Dear Sequoia Records Tribe,
We think we can all agree that staying at home for so many months isn’t easy.
Seeing friends through Zoom or talking on the phone, can’t replace simple human contact.
Since we know this will be the new normal for some time now, we have been doing some things to keep ourselves healthy and to keep our spirits up.
Here is the list of 3 things we have been doing that has been helping us. Let us know what you have been doing also we will share your ideas in future newsletters.
1. Daily meditation practice
If you don’t already meditate regularly, now is a good time to start. Even just 15 minutes a day can make a big difference.
The simple act of quieting the mind is very soothing. It’s very relaxing to have a time everyday to escape from all the mental clutter and thoughts.
This is more important now than ever before. Having this time everyday helps so much if keeping fears and negative thoughts from taking over.
You can use a simple mantra such as "So Hum," which basically means "I am that."
Say the syllable "So" on your in-breath and the syllable "Hum" on your out-breath.
Or you can just listen to the sound of your breath, or use some meditation music.

If you find our mind wandering, gently bring your attention but to your mantra or your breath.
Over time you will find there are longer and longer periods of silence.
That inner stillness will help you feel more accepting of what you can’t change such as this pandemic.
2. Maintain a schedule
Even though you are home either all the time or much more than usual, stick to a schedule of when you wake up, eat, sleep etc.
This will help you feel sense of normalcy and order to your life.
3. Spend time outdoors
Whether you live in the country or the city, it really helps to walk outside.Make sure to spend time outside walking, running, hiking or whatever you enjoy doing.
In addition to how healthy it is for your body, it’s also very healthy for your mind and your sense of contentment.
Studio update
Our studio upgrades are nearly complete now.
Steve has moved his studio into his guest house and is currently spending time getting everything wired together.
This new guest house space is much larger and will allow us enough room to keep all our instruments such as Steve’s guitars at our fingertips.
It’s also large enough for us to record with other musicians which we look forward to doing.
We are also thrilled to soon have a full size Steinway grand piano in our studio!
Steve’s fiancee Gwendolyn has moved in to his main house and will be having her Steinway grand piano delivered to our guest house studio once it's set up.
The new grand piano will be the perfect thing for us to use in our upcoming acoustic music albums that will feature piano, guitar and flute.
